Red Swallow Creative
Red Swallow Creative is a brand created by Sandy Lee, a female Bay Area local creative. As a multidisciplinary creative, Sandy did not want to restrict herself by any specific medium or art form from her personal branding yet still stays intimate to her. Her brand/shop is not limited to selling just stickers, resin-work, or prints, and she is constantly developing new skills to add new items to her inventory. “Red Swallow Creative” originates from Sandy's hopes to connect her background with the creative work she does. Red Swallow derives from her given Chinese name, 宏燕 (Hóng Yàn), which actually translates into English for “magnificent swallow.” In Chinese, the pinyin Hóng is a homonym for the color red. Sandy believed for many years that her name had a meaning close to a “red bird” since she was never formally taught to read or write in Chinese, hence, the name of her brand and creative outlet. The name was given to her by her late paternal grandmother, who was an instructor teaching the Chinese language back when she lived in Vietnam before her family immigrated to California, USA. Red Swallow reminds her of her culture and how it influences her art and personal life. As an artist, Sandy holds herself to high standards and carefully inspects her products to ensure buyer satisfaction and happiness. Her ultimate goal from creating Red Swallow Creative is to share her art and other creative works and to bring joy to others, even for a split second. - Sandy Lee
