“Magic Cycles” depicts a Sun and Moon sharing space. Each day these two cosmic beings engage in a celestial dance. The rise and fall of these celestial bodies is a magical cycle that reflects the natural rhythms of life. Plants like us are also mesmerized and entranced by the rhythms of these two ancient beings. “Hold Me” is a piece that has a double meaning. The first is a literal meaning referring to the holding of a plant. The second meaning signifies the deeper meaning of the word, whereby the magic hands hold the plant in order for it to flourish and grow. It is a reminder to be held and hold nature close. My inspiration for this piece was to celebrate the diversity of life under the surface. There is something poetic about a place as expansive and harsh as the depths of the ocean yet it be home to an unfathomable amount of life. Growth can thrive even in the msot extreme circumstances.
